Get together in comfort or enjoy a relaxing evening at your own home cinema … anything is possible at Klein Holland Harz!

The basement lounge is furnished with two spacious lounge sofas and coffee tables. There’s also a playpen for our youngest guests, set cozily between the two seating areas.

There’s also a smart TV, and the projector and large screen (240 cm wide) make it easy to set up your very own home cinema! Our younger guests will especially love this, as the projector can also be used to stream content from various services.

There’s also a retro gaming console with lots of games from Atari, Commodore 64, Nintendo, PlayStation, arcade, Game Boy, Sega, and more.

★ On request, both sofas can be made up as box-spring beds (180 x 200) with high-quality mattresses and toppers, so the living room can also be used as an additional sleeping area for up to 4 people if needed. In such cases, a shower is available in the bathroom next to a toilet.

Enjoy a cosy evening at the pub...

What would the Netherlands be without Amsterdam, and what would Amsterdam be without the Red Light District? That would be like the Zaanse Schans without clogs, Kinderdijk without windmills and Keukenhof without tulips... nothing at all...

So naturally, we’ve made something special of it here at Klein Holland Harz!

It starts in the hall, where you’ll feel as if you’re walking alongside the canals lit in red. Once you step through the door, you find yourself in a cosy “Redlight District Bar” called Klein Amsterdam. The room features a bar and a tall, round table for sitting or standing. The whole space is, of course, designed with a wink to Amsterdam’s most infamous square kilometre.

The bar is fully equipped with:

  • Beer tap for one keg
  • Fridge
  • Senseo coffee machine
  • Kettle
  • Dishwasher
  • Ice maker
  • Dishwashing set
  • Glasses, etc.

Klein Amsterdam also has a Smart TV, a projector with a large screen (240 cm wide) and a Bluetooth sound system that you can easily connect to your phone or tablet.

There is also a guest toilet with a WC, washbasin and mirror, as well as a changing table for little ones weighing up to 15 kg.

...or battle, win and lose together in the gaming zone

Our Gaming Zone is next to Klein Amsterdam. It is equipped with:

  • 8 ft pool table
  • 8 ft air hockey
  • Table football
  • Poker table
  • Darts lane

And there’s no need to bring childcare along, because we have a children’s paradise here too!

Although Klein Amsterdam is a cosy little pub with a great gaming zone, we’ve also created a lovely, safe place for younger children. While the adults enjoy their drinks and the teenagers have fun at the games tables, little ones up to around 10 years old can let off steam in the fairytale-themed playroom, equipped with:

  • Ball pit
  • Lego table
  • Train table
  • Playpen
  • Smart TV

Hard at work here!

Get creative, make music and/or browse our little shop

In our freestanding studio, we do crafts with the children every Saturday from 11:00 am until 12:30 pm at the latest. During school holidays, around public holidays and on request, we are also happy to offer this more often or at another time.

Yuri also has his own musical space here, where he especially enjoys playing the drums and sometimes the piano. And when he’s making music, everyone is welcome to come along and listen! He also likes to take the time to let young and old have a go at playing the drums. Just ask him!

Our studio is also home to our embroidery workshop, sublimation workshop, and a small shop selling typical Dutch and Harz souvenirs.

In short: whenever the door is open, everyone is always welcome to come in!

Outdoor entertainment

Enjoy the outdoors while staying sheltered on the terrace

Right next to the house, in the backyard, you’ll find a wonderfully spacious terrace measuring no less than 60 m².

Half of it is covered, and the covered section has a large dining area for 25 people. That means you can enjoy sitting outside even in strong sunshine or rainy weather—and even have a winter barbecue!

The other half, the uncovered section, is furnished with a large lounge set.

There is also an outdoor kitchen with a grill and pizza oven (both gas-powered), ample worktop space and a sink.

Cool off on hot days...

Klein Holland Harz has a beautiful, large outdoor pool measuring 5.60 x 3.50 metres (internal dimensions), with a depth of approx. 1.20 metres and a lovely waterfall.

We aim to keep the pool open each year from mid-May to mid-September. However, the weather in the Harz Mountains doesn’t always make this possible. If frost is forecast overnight, for example, the pumps and solar heating can’t be connected or left running, so unfortunately the pool may not yet be open or may have to close.

The pool is heated by solar panels. On really sunny days, the water temperature can reach up to 28 ℃.

The pool is disinfected using a sand filtration system with salt electrolysis. We use electronic measuring devices that take continuous readings to keep the water values as close to optimal as possible. We also regularly check the water values manually using a second electronic measuring device.

For our youngest guests, there’s an additional children’s pool measuring approx. 174 cm in diameter and with a maximum depth of 15 cm.

...or warm up wonderfully in the colder months,

In the backyard of Klein Holland Harz, we’ve done our best to create our own little sauna retreat.

With overall dimensions of 219.5 cm x 224 cm, it offers plenty of space for uninterrupted wellness time in your own garden. The sauna room itself is also generously sized at 204 cm x 194.2 cm. Inside, 3 sauna benches offer space to relax.

The sauna is equipped with a bio-combi heater. A bio-combi sauna is very healthy and is considered a gentler alternative to the traditional Finnish sauna.

Temperature and climate

  • Temperature: approx. 45 to 60 °C (Finnish sauna: approx. 80 to 100 °C)
  • Humidity: significantly higher (often around 45–50%)
  • Session length: 15 to 30 minutes per session is perfectly fine (longer than in a Finnish sauna)

Health benefits

  • Gentle cardiovascular workout: The milder heat puts less strain on the circulatory system, making the bio sauna ideal for beginners, older adults or people with sensitive circulation.
  • Relief for the airways: Higher humidity and the optional use of herbs or essential oils soothe the mucous membranes and help with a mild runny nose or cough.
  • Relaxation & stress relief: The moderate heat promotes muscle recovery and leads to deep physical relaxation.
  • Boost your immune system: Alternating gentle warmth with a cool-down stimulates your metabolism and strengthens your immune defences.

Thanks to all these features, our sauna is suitable not only for experienced sauna-goers, but also for beginners, seniors, young children and people with circulatory problems.

...take a dip and relax...

For those who prefer, there is also an unheated pool (2.00 x 2.00 x 0.80) with a saltwater system and filter; you can take a quick dip, or, thanks to its shallow depth, sit in it for a little longer.

Of course, anyone brave enough can continue to use this pool during the winter months. Please note, however, that the filtration systems are shut down from mid-October to mid-April to prevent frost damage. We also recommend using the pool in winter only if you have experience with cold-water bathing, and avoiding it altogether if you have or may have circulatory problems.

For the ultimate relaxation, there are also two swing recliners where you can enjoy views of the beautiful surrounding forest.

To complete the experience, there’s also an outdoor shower—perfect for rinsing off before taking a dip in the large swimming pool.

Hard at work here!

...or get active together

The backyard offers not only relaxation, but also plenty of opportunities for action and adventure, such as:

  • Trampoline
  • Table tennis
  • Pool soccer (from July 2027)
  • Treehouse

Adventure playground

There’s also another large adventure playground on the adjoining property, which our guests are welcome to use. It’s part of our own private backyard, which we’re always happy to share with our guests; however, we naturally expect that our own grandchildren and we ourselves will still feel at home here. This adventure playground is equipped with:

  • Climbing towers with several slides and swings
  • Trampoline
  • Table tennis
  • Giant chess set
  • Sandbox
  • Picnic tables with a charcoal grill at each, dotted around the garden
  • Park benches
  • Relaxation areas with a 2-seater outdoor sofa that converts into a double sun lounger
  • “Klein Holland” photo backdrop with a windmill, a cow, giant clogs and tulips
  • Toy cupboards with outdoor toys for even more fun

In short…

No one will get bored at Klein Holland Harz, and there’s always plenty to do for all ages, both indoors and out!

The following floor plans show all the recreation areas available to all guests with every booking.

If you rent the house as a group, you’ll of course have everything to yourselves, except for the adventure playground.

And if one of our holiday apartments is rented as a separate private unit, all the facilities listed above are shared.
