The surrounding area

Many of our guests are so delighted by the many facilities offered by “Klein Holland Harz” in the house and on the grounds that they’re happy to enjoy a relaxing stay at home. But it’s always fun to explore the surrounding area during your holiday, too. And of course, we’re happy to help you discover what’s beyond Klein Holland Harz!

Tourist Information

In the basement, we’ve also set up a central information point, naturally in keeping with the theme.

The walls are lined with brochures where you can find out all about the many things to see and do in the Harz.

As always, we’re happy to help whenever you need us!

Sieber Mountain Village

The picturesque village of Sieber lies in the Sieber Valley on the edge of the Harz National Park, surrounded by extensive forests, dramatic mountain scenery and phenomenal views. Together, these make this paradise one of Europe’s finest hiking destinations. This nature reserve is known for its unique flora and fauna, and every adventure brings new discoveries. There’s plenty to do in the village, too, despite its small size, alongside the beautiful surroundings and wonderful nature!

‘Große Wiese’ Leisure Park

For children, the approximately 65,000 m² Großer Wiesen leisure park, less than a 3-minute walk away, has a large adventure playground. They can climb, scramble and slide to their heart’s content. The park also has a mini-golf course and an outdoor swimming pool with a children’s pool.

The park also offers plenty of ways for older visitors to relax. There’s a lovely pond and spacious, well-kept lawns with beautiful flower beds. Enjoy a leisurely stroll here without too much effort.

Hiking fun

With an oversized bench, a giant wind chime, a charcoal burner’s hut, a barefoot trail and many other interesting stops, the nature trail is a fun hiking adventure, especially for children.

The Panoramaweg, which loops around Sieber like a cloverleaf, also offers many lovely views and vistas. You can even see Klein Holland Harz from several different viewpoints!

And if you look closely, you might even be lucky enough to spot some of the forest’s smaller and larger animals.

Highlights

Alongside the shorter hiking trails in and around Sieber, there are longer routes such as sections 2 and 3 of the Harzer Baudensteig (also part of the Harzer Wandernadel), as well as European long-distance path No. 6.

The hiking trails to Großer Knollen and Hanskühnenburg lead to some of the area’s most beautiful sights and start right next to our front door!

The Harz

The Harz is a place where an oasis of calm, beautiful nature and many hiking trails begin right on your doorstep. Yet, just a short drive away, you’ll find the lively side of the Harz, with its many charming towns, beautiful villages, cultural attractions and exciting experiences. In winter, when Frau Holle transforms the landscape into a white winter wonderland, the fun in the snow begins right outside your door, and several ski areas are just a short drive away, including Matthias-Schmidt-Berg in Sankt Andreasberg, Wurmberg in Braunlage and Bocksberg in Hahnenklee. There are also many smaller ski areas nearby.

Here, in every season, you can enjoy a wonderful holiday both in the beautiful surroundings and in and around our cosy “Klein Holland Harz”, with its “Zaanse” motto “Oit & Tois”, or, as we say in German, “out and about, yet at home”.

Every season in the Harz is a great adventure for young and old alike. There are leisure activities and ways to relax to suit every taste, and almost all the Harz’s towns and attractions are within an hour of Klein Holland Harz. We doubt that even we, as locals, will ever manage to see all the beautiful places and attractions! It’s no wonder so many people visit the Harz every year, often more than once.

Although Klein Holland Harz has an extensive information point of its own, we understand that you may want to find out what there is to see and do during your stay before you arrive. The Harz Tourism Association is the best and most up-to-date travel guide.

To the horizon and back...

At 1,141.2 metres, the Brocken, also known as Blocksberg, is the highest mountain in northern Germany and lies within the Harz National Park. A popular tourist attraction, it can be climbed on foot or by bike via various hiking and cycling trails. Another unique experience is taking the narrow-gauge railway to the summit. The journey travels from the former East Germany through the wilderness of the Harz National Park, with magnificent views all the way to its highest peak. The summit is known for its unpredictable weather, with snow in late spring and early autumn not uncommon; on a clear day, it offers impressive panoramic views stretching for more than a hundred kilometres. As well as being famous, the Brocken is especially notorious for its many legends, including the “Brocken spectre” and Walpurgis, when witches and devils rule.

In cooperation with Harzer Schmalspurbahnen GmbH, we can offer our guests tickets to the Brocken at an attractive price. If you’d like to take advantage of this offer, please order your tickets from us at least 14 days before your stay. We’ll make sure the tickets are ready for your whole group.

Tickets purchased or ordered from us have no expiry date. You can wait for the best weather and even save your tickets for your next stay in the Harz. What’s more, tickets purchased or ordered from us guarantee that you can travel at your chosen time and date. Simply head straight to the platform and board the train as soon as it arrives, then enjoy the fantastic journey to the Brocken!
